T01 14 A w if , aw' S 1 gg +11 Si. 'z if QE :b i n I , Foreword We proudly present the XVII Volume of the BANNER of 1958, for which we make no apology. There have been other BANNERS, but we hope you will agree that we present some- thing better than usual. We know that you will enjoy reliv- ing our last high school memories with us. THE SENIORS DENMARK SCHOOL DENMARK, IOWA sf ..-mniha Dedication Urs. Carrie Heberer You became a part of our school life dunng our Freshman year. While not one of our teachers, you have helped to make our school years pleasant by being so cheery and interested in us. Everyday as we advanced through the hot lunch line, you seemed always to have a special smile or a special word as you picked our your nicest piece of cake or the choicest apple for each one. Because of your pleasing manner, your will- ingness to be helpful, and your genuine friend- liness toward all students, we Seniors are truly happy to present our BANNER to you. We feel that the dedication of our yearbook is the biggest Thank You we could give. May your pleasant ways continue to inspire others. lp-L f:L '-wif' - , ui-, gn, 2- a' 4 5.1 ggmff 1 . 5 ing 's 1 r V P k I v 9 I A nv 'IRL-Sgizu Patch Clups Sold 'Vixen :cr Food I5 Sold STERQIIQCE FOOD L'0IxEP.-YNY B..rl,:1.:LU:1, Lmga DLNINYLRRK LQCKLR Butum I1I.gT ami Fu L--mg Fresh Mcats and Cured Media 'x 'Q I-hgh School Hlcullj' X Z 1 'i k K. The Denmark Boys started their basketball season out with only one returning letterman from last year. He was Glenn Rinkenberger. With the help of Glenn, the Demons raced to third place in the conference and helped himself to get nominated for all state. The tear.: was mostly underclassmen with the exception of two fellow seniors, Mike Miller and Dick Troutman. The Demons dropped a couple of good games before they got the ball a rolling but once they started they won three straight in conference play, then they dropped a couple more to drop out of first place to third. The Demons then took control again and won five out of their next sr:: games, all of which were in the conference with the exception of one. Then County Tournament time rolled around and the Demons faced Montrose who had beaten them once before by a short margin, but to the surprise of the Montrose fans and the enjoyment of the Demon backers, the Demons advanced to the semi-finals only to be defeated by a weak Donnellson team whom we had already beaten once by a big margin. The '57-'58 record is the best record for Denmark since 1952. We are very proud of our boys' basketball team and of the good prospects for next year, when there will be six or seven returning lettermen. Compliments Of RALPH B. NIETERS DENMARK DAIRY CREME DR.
