On April l7, 1936, Miss Prudence Sherwin was elecTed as The TirsT woman member oT The Board oT TrusTees. This spring anoTher woman, Mrs. Lorena Woodrow Burke oT New York CiTy, was elecTed. Dr. Avery A. Shaw Dresident Dr. Avery A. Shaw became Presidenr ol N Denison Universiry in l927. l-le was born in Nova Scoria and received his Bachelor of Aris degree from Acadia College, Nova Scolia. l-le now has degrees from Rochesler Theological Seminary, McMas- rers and Bucknell College. Before coming ro Denison, Dr. Shaw was paslor of The Emmanuel Church in Brooklyn, New York, for lhirleen years. In 1934-35 he received The honor of being elecred Presidenl of The Norfhern Bapiisl Convenfion. l-le is a rruslee al lhe presem' 'rime of Rochesler Divinily School and is in Who's Who in America and President ol: American Colleges and Universilriesf' Because of his friendliness and symparheric undersianding he has Jraken a place in 'rhe hearl of every Denison sludenr. l-le has a keen inleresi in each sludenl which has made him an iniegral parl of campus life.
