Jackets are Catbustersr Excitement ran high at Denison High School as the Sher- man-Denison football game approached. The Yellow Jackets with a victory over RJ.. Turner, were ready to win back the axe and return it to its rightful place at D.H.S. Sherman Week usually heralds the approaching close of the football season. In the past, excitement had time to develop through the year, and, by the time the game had approached, the school was overflowing with anticipation. But this year, with the game falling on the second week of school, many people were still trying to readjust to school, and many were caught unexpectedly. Although the week was a little slow getting started, it was nevertheless a week full of excitement. The week started off Monday with students encouraged to turn the Bearcats Inside-Out. Tuesday was Shade Day to put the Bearcats in the Shade. Wednesday, students wore colorful socks, remindig the Jackets to Sock it to the Bearcats. Tie Day came on Thursday,with everyone ready to Tie up the Bearcats. Friday was traditional Color Day, to get everyone into the spirit for the game that night. The main theme for the wek was Catbusters, based on the movie Ghostbusters. Other ideas borrowed from the movie include a Catbusters pin picturing a Bearcat with a circle around it and a line across, and song entitled Cat- busters, written by Roger Hanson Jr. and sung at the pep rally by Nathan Johnson, based on the song Ghostbusters by Ray Parker. By Roger Hanson Yes, that wild bunch of Christian Athletes was actually spitting watermelon seeds! FCA sponsored a watermelon party for fellow ath- letes who were interested in joining the club Students got together, had a good time and even participated in a seed spitting con- test. Later the some evening, Student Council sponsored a car smash which gave students a chance to really smash a car in honor of Sherman week. Students paid a small fee to let out their frustrations on the cor. Look at This Hess-Kelly Wilkerson takes one last glance at the car that is about to be de- stroyed.
