Prior to their visit to camp they had a week's practice on their high kick, military and novelty routines. Cheerleaders, Maseofs AHend Summer Camp Varsity Cheerleaders and mascots got a top rating in competition at summer camp last summer. They placed in the top eight out of about 70 cheerleading squads. The camp at Stephen F. Austin College in Nacogdoches, June 13-18, provided classroom type instruction for part of the day. They participated in cheerleading activities and competition daily. We had a good time and met a lot of girls from all over Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas, said head cheerleader Patti Sue Flood. Dawn Hopkins, lower right, is ready for a week of camp. A group of cheerleaders develops a new routine, below. The DHS cheerleaders, right, are shown practicing a routine for contest.
