Mojorettes Eulanda Caldwell and Mary Welch put in extra hours making up new routines to entertain during pep rallies and half time performances. The Yellow Jacket Marching Band, under the direction of Mr. Jesse Riddle, plays in pep rallies, half time shows, and parades. There are early rehearsals to put the final touches on their shows. The concert band consists of mostly symphonic music. Many individuals went to UIL Solo and Ensemble contest bringing home many honors. Twelve people made the All-Region Band. The band puts in many hours toward the music competition. They went to UIL Contest and Greater Southwest Festival. In Amarillo they brought home a superior rating in concert performance and an excellent rating in sight reading. It was named one of the four top bands. The Yellow Jacket Band Parents Club raised money by selling Christmas greenery and magazines. A Christmas concert, all Denison Bands Concert, American Heritage Program and the Annual Spring Concert are some of the performances the band gives. Certain instruments are allowed in the German Band, a small group revived this year. They play mostly short German waltzes and polkas. Members of the German Band are clarinets. Page Rudig and Sandra Hayes; accordion, Gary Gruber; tuba, Randy Foster; and trombone, Bruce Greig. Drum major Terry Curry competed in the state solo and ensemble contest bringing home a first place award.
