SCHULZ relieved Captain S. O0 BACH onboard DENEBOLA at U.S. Naval Station, Rota, Spaino DENEBOLA returned to Norfolk on 18 November and entered a leave and upkeep period extending through the Christmas and New Year'e holidayso During this period, DENEBOLA was given an Administrative Inspection by Commander Service Souadron FOURQ the results of which yielded her a grade of OUTSTANDINGQ Durhng 1967, DENEBOLA participated in four major logistic reple e ishmentsg two in support of the UQSO SIXTH Fleeta and two in support of the Caribbean R sdy Groups She replenished 100 ships and two naval stations and transferred a total of 3916 tons of cargoo In addition to her regularly assigned duties, inspectio s, and exercises, DEMEBOLA feu d time to train a total of 70 U.S. Naval Reser, vists onboard for their annual two week training, hold two ship's parties participate in Norfolkqs Culinary Art Show, and win the NEY Awardo On lk April? NARRATIVE ifcon'tJ On 7 March, DENEBOLA returned to Norfolk after successfully o mpleting the battle problem in ner operational Readiness Inspection tonne From 7 to 17 March, she was in port for routine upkeep and reloading, sailing on 17 March for the Carlbbeano During her stay in the Caribbean, DENEBOLA conducted underway replenishment of the Caribbean Ready Group and stopped at-Sta Thomas, V.IQ and San Juan, PQR. for rest and relaxation over the Easter weekmendod ' DENEBOLA returned to Norfolk on 30 March and proceeded to reload for another Caribbean UNREP0 On 15 April she sailed for Operation Clovehitch, returning to Norfolk on l Mayo e '.From 1 May to 7 Junep DENE OLA was in port for leave, upkeep and re- loading, departing on 7 June for the Medlzerennean Seao While in the Mediteranneang DENEBOLA replenished various units of the U.So SIXTH Fleet, both inport and underway, with much of her cargo being transferred to the uss snvmxl msezb., Liberty ports included Naples, Italy 423e2z.
