e 4 X Q v HISTORY OF JUNIOR CLASS Nine fresh en were introduced to a strange new world when we entered high school in September 1945 Until October 29, our class members were Doris Lynch, Virginia Peffer Eunice Turner, Jean Gordnor, Edith Johnson Shirley Johnson, Raymond Hlhrup, Arthur Lee Pittman, and Winston Lowe this time Doris Lynch moved to North Carolina leaving only eight members and even later our class was decreased to seven when Jean Gordnor moved to Amelia, Virginia During our Freshmen year we experienced dif ficulties in securing a hone room teacher Gales was our instructor for a few weeks and then much to our regret left for other work. M133 Joyner was his successor however she left at mid term Fbllowing Miss Joyner was Miss Seward who taught the remainder of the session. In spite of suuh difficulties we finished our freshmen year with flying colors After our summer vacation we returned to school in September 1944, as sophomores, ready for another year of work and fun To our regret ve had lost two members Eunice Turner had dropped out of our group to begin work and Edith Johnson was still a freshman Later, Raymond Harrup and Arthur Lee Pittman decided they were of more im povthnce to industry than to education On September Sth 1945 we again returned to our studies. We soon discovered that Virginia Peffer had chosen to marry instead of completi her high school education. Shirley Johnson and Winston Lowe were new the only remaining members. Burl the first part of our second semester Rando ph Pittman who just returned from the Navy, joined our class to continue his education. Although we are few in number we realize that a bright futu e awaits us and that by hard work we will reach our goal GRADUATION! . 15 .- XY E e I N a x gf 6, , a - ' , .
