This fact was realized by our state ed- ucational directors, thus several years ago an organized program for physical education was launched throughout the state. Fifty minutes of each school day is devoted to physical education. During this time every- one participates in fifteen minutes of formal exercise after which such games as softball, base- ball, football and basketball are played. In October, January, and May records of our accomplishments are sent in to the State Depart- ment of Physical Education where they are kept on record. By living active in this phase of our school's activities we feel that we profit not only from a physical and recreational standpoint but we also learn and put into practice the principles of good sportsmanship SAFETY PATRO In the interest of safety and order on the playground in the school building and on the school buses a Safety Patrol was organized in Dendron High School for the first time on October 12, 1944 It was reorganized in the session '45 '46 since it proved profitable the year before Whenever the Patrol was needed it performed its duty efficiently The cooperative spirit among many of the students of Dendron High School has made it possible for this organization to function properly Fbr the first term the following were members of the patrol Earl Holdsworth Mary Bradshaw Thomas Earl Goodrich, Esther Butler, Florence Johnson Sarah Gene Hart Edna Johnson and Gene Clark A new slate of patrolnen took office for the second term They were Marvin Warthan, Celia Emory Robert Butler, Myrtle Goodrich, Thomas Bradshaw and Winston Lowe ' fb ' 5 ' r 1- - E 0 .
