CHRISTMAS OPERETTA S 'Christmas For other-s', an operetta presented December 15, 191414, depicted the following eharacterss The Old Woman in the Shoe with Her Children Mr. and Mrs. .Tack Spratt Simple Simon The Star Mistress Mary Cranberries Queen of Hearts Snowflakes Rabbits p English Walnuts Birds . 7 Popcorn Ladies Helpers ' Christmas Lights The spirit of 'Christmas For 0thers prevailed in our school when the boys and girls decided on giving useful gifts to wounded service men in the McGuire Hospital, rather than following their usual custom of exchanging gifts at Christms time. The entire group met in the euditoriumg singing 'Jingle Bells' everyone marched around' the room, placing his gift un- der the tree as he passed, The numerous gifts to be sent to those who had given so mich for others were packed by a Junior Red Cross Committee, STAMP BUYIN3 Friday is an excitirg day when the Room Captains begin checking to see that each member of their team buys one or more stamps so that they will back Uncle Sam 1002. Sane earn, others borrow, and a few forget, only to hasten home, quickly returning with stamp money in order that their team might be 1002 for the day, thus showing their willing- ness in cooperating with Uncle Sam. SUEDE CLASSES 'What do we sing today? 'Let's sing 'Don't Fence lb In'! Such expressions as these are heard among the boys and . girls as they go to 'singing classes' on Tuesdays and Thurs- days. Nhny enjoy that hour more than they do any other part of the day's program. The program consists of folk, patriotic, popular, and sacred songs. The primary group enjoys rhythm games which are expressions of their physical activities as Well as the enjoyment of singing. Mrs. Whitmore is very patient and willing to devote extra time in helping us prepare programs to be presented for the pleasure and approval of the parents and friends.
