The turn of the century-what a sig- nificant publication date this year's Navigator has! It has been a year when we at Denbyfalong with the rest of the nation. have paused to reflect over the last fifty eventful years and to take a long, serious look into the challenging future. We have thought about our school in contrast to the little red schoolhouse of the early l900's. The comfortable au- ditorium in which we have our weekly assemblies: the lunchroom with its bright drapes and boppy music where we daily settle the world's affairs: the pool where our champion swimming team gets into condition: the huge play- field on which we meet for our friendly annual Community Day - how strange all of this would be to the student of fifty years ago with his dull reader and his slate and the pot-bellied schoolroom stove which he huddled near. l 2
