Dedication We desnre at thus ponnt to remand ourselves that one of the basuc tenets of Amerucan democracy has been the bellef lnfree publrc schools Ever slnce the year 1647, when the fnrst township school was authornzed an Massachusetts Colony, the people of thus count y have based their culture and planned their future by the lncluslon ofthe publlc school In the establishment and expansson of each communlty throughout our great United States The accompllshment of this great feat has been the result of the efforts of unnumbered Among those have been the members of local school boards, who by their tireless altrulsm have carried on, year after year, the program of Amerucan education We now particularly wlsh to pause and appreclate the efforts of the men and women who have served on the Denalr School Board, since Its establnshment nn the very early years of thus century ln thas splrlt of appreclatlon, Denalr Hugh School dedlcates thus annual to these flne cltnzens, and especually to the men of our present board thousands of men and women, many of whom often have been seemingly unappreciated .

Foreword Throughout all ages our world has known musuc, even though It may have been only the rustling of the leaves or the slngung of the blrds Musnc too has reflected moods of nations, the country s struggles, efforts and accomplishments lt makes the same reflectnon of nndrvlduals Because muslc has so many Interpretations, tempos, rhythms and harmonies whlch can be applled to llfe and to undlvlduals, we chose musnc as our theme Curtain going up' Lights are dnmmed, and we see the chorr ID posutlon to begun the premuere performance of the Denalr Hugh School Song of Llfe under the ablednrectlon of Father Tame The conductor ascends the pocllum, lifts his hands, and the chorr begins on lt s versnon of thus great song It as true that In the song of lnfe some mdlvrduals have the solo parts, but true musac vsn t all nn the solos, because of necessuty there must be some blendmg of voices ln order to make a rich fullness of harmony It IS also true that some of the most beaut: ful music thatwe hear us not from the soloists, but that whlch arises from the innermost souls of men The tempo of our productlon changes sometlmes fast, sometumes slow but no matter what the tempo, the musnc flaws on The stage Itself IS the world we as nndlvuduals are the many voices which make up the cholr, and though there are many dns ordant tones, stall the effect of the enture concert ns very mellfluous Won't you blend your voice with ours as we go on sungmg our versnon of this Song of Life? 0 .
