Foreword It IS the custom for each yearbook to start off wlth a serious thought and then follow through with plctures that mean so much to the graduatung student However the student must take more than these precuous pxctures and memories from the years that have been allotted to hns or her education He must take unto a world of Increasing strufe the lessons that he has learned he must put unto practlce that which he has been able to note through study of the sntuatlons whlch present themselves to the world perrodlcally In thus mud pomt of the twentseth century the graduate must reconcile hum self to llvlng un a perrod of constant warfare and under the restrlctlons thereof Some wall Immediately become a part of the armed forces others will contmue thear education for a short tame and wlll then proceed to serve their country In the manner for whach they are best sulted However each person must realvze that servuce to hls country does not consxst merely of wearmg a uniform for a short perlod and then llvlng as one pleases True cltlzenshlp IS characterized by constant effort to make the Unlted States a firmer natnon both morally and practically The oft lested at 'younger generation carries the bulk of thus responslbuluty We are confldent that the Inherent decency of the true Ameruca wull eventually come forward If we mamtam the constant effort to make the world a better and more secure place an whuch to lrve On the graduates of 1953 rests a portion of the duty to demonstrate to the world that a real democracy IS the only way In whlch the world can achieve lastmg peace Amerlcan youth cannot fall Your Edntor 1 I - I - P I ' I 1
