This year’s council has a membership of 27 over last year ' s 24--this change was brought about by the amend¬ ment to the constitution to include the presidents of our three major clubs. Executive council meetings con¬ sisting of the officers and sponsor, Mrs. Fritch, are held before each meeting to plan the agenda. The Assembly programs selected by the council proved to be most enjoyable. These programs included James Perkins and His World of Magic, Charles King’s Music in the Air, Kenneth Goodman and His Presentation of Organ Music, and Demetrie Wilson ' s Trained Seals. An initiation week was held for all newly elected coun¬ cil members. This was climaxed by a weiner roast and party in the cafeteria. Short skits were presented at the November PTA meeting. The Christmas party, always an annual event, was well received by both students and faculty. The highlights of this program were a guest pianist, Mrs. Trudy Stephenson, who accompanied Christmas carol singing by the student body, and a rendition of several seasonal numbers by the band along with a presentation of blazer jackets to 4-year band members by the director, Mr. Brandt. Members purchased student council pins and blue sweatshirts lettered in white displaying a gavel. These sweatshirts were sold to the student body in various colors and lettering as a fund-raising project. Two paper dispensing machines helped to increase the funds along with a work day of picking up corn. An anti-litterbug week was sponsored by the council in February and long hours of planning went into making Twirp Week anathe dance a success. At least two students will be attending the Student Council Workshop at I. U. this summer along with their sponsor, who will serve as a counselor. It has been a year of work, fun, and most of all one of rewarding achievement for the CounciL
