Class Poem by Robert Zylstra and Don Griwac For 12 long years we’ve gone to school; We’ve studied a little as a rule; The class of 56” are we, We’d like you to meet our company. Mr. Hission has been our friend; He’s guided us to the very end. He’s always there to lend information: He’s helped us considerably in our education. in the front of our class sits John Bol; His name come first when they call the roll; He has blonde hair and is six feet tall; He likes to hunt and play basketball. Virginia Bush sits in the next seat; We all agree she is very neat. She has a quiet and friendly way, I’m sure she’ll be a success some day. At mathematics she’s quite a whiz, Myrle Coffer is who she is. She has dark blonde hair and pretty blue eyes, I’m sure she’ll accomplish whatever she tries. Next comes a girl with many fine features; She’s liked by her classmates as well as her teachers. At acting, she rates among the best: It’s Charmaine DeFries — you must have guessed. Evelyn DeVries is a cheerful lass, We’re glad that she’s a member of our class. Her writings and speeches are really neat, And her piano playing is quite a treat. Don Griwac’s the next one that we have in line, In Cross Country and Track, his running is fine. He’s commonly known as the humorous sort, And basketball is his favorite sport. Here we have Barbara Groet; She certainly is quite a beaut. A more popular girl you’ll never meet, And her cheerleading can’t be beat. Marlene Hamstra’s a friend of all; She has brown hair and is rather tall. She could be called a hot rod queen.” She doesn’t spare the gasoline. In school work, it’s hard to compare With this girl with the light blonde hair. Carolyn Hoffman’s her name she has blue eyes; I’m sure she’ll succeed in whatever she tries. Lorraine Hoffman come next on the roll, She’s established herself as a jovial soul. Her sense of humor seems never to end; To know her is to be her friend. Bob Jackson’s a happy-go-lucky boy; His ’51 Merc is his pride and joy. His sense of humor cannot be beat; He’s three inches tall, with an added six feet. Marvin Kaluf is quite a lad; His thoughts and deeds are never bad. He has dark hair and a winning smile; He always dresses in the best of style.
