FUTURE HOMEMAKERS OF AMERICA A get acquainted meeting to give the old members a chance to meet the new members began FHA activity this year. Members decorated a booth in the Tri-State Fair for the purpose of better public relations and to give the mean- ing of FHA. Soon after, FHA held initiation of new members. The officers for the year '59-'60 were loyce Scott. president: Sharon Potter, vice president, Elizabeth Hurst, treas- urer, Brenda Gallegos. secretary: Jan Spicher, reporterg Jackie Miller, parliamentariang Deon Speir, historian, Lin- da Andrews, song leader, and Esther Acosta, pianist. At one of the meetings, Tiny Van Ewijk, DHS's foreign exchange student from Holland, gave a talk on home furnishings and food. As the season came to a close. the FHA prepared for Daddy Date Night, their Heritage dinner, and the installa- tion of officers in May. Compet- ing with 42 other state judging teams, the Dem- ing FFA Chapter received the bronze emblem award and each contestant received a bronze medal. George Tigner, FFA sponsor who took the boys to Kansas City, was very proud of the team after learning that they had placed third in the nation.
