Students showed so much enthu- siasm for Chorus this year that Mrs. Weaver found it necessary to hold the class both fifth and sixth periods. The Chorus group ranged in size from the large group of 71 mem- bers tincluding 10 boysj to the triple trio, the trio, and the solo- ists. Any student having membership in Chorus for one year is automati- cally eligible to wear the Chorus' sweater, and is also awarded a chevron for each year of member- ship.

They were Cecelia Hadaway, Janice Holes, Jackie Wheeler. Jimmie Fur- gzason. and Gayle Haclaway, At the beginning of the spring semester Chorus students looked forward to several coming musical events: The Spring Concert, the annual music festival to be held in Alamogordo. and most exciting of all, performing at the birthday celebration of the famed American composer, Nacio Herb Brown.

FUTURE HOMEMAKERS OF AMERICA A get acquainted meeting to give the old members a chance to meet the new members began FHA activity this year. Members decorated a booth in the Tri-State Fair for the purpose of better public relations and to give the mean- ing of FHA. Soon after, FHA held initiation of new members. The officers for the year '59-'60 were loyce Scott. president: Sharon Potter, vice president, Elizabeth Hurst, treas- urer, Brenda Gallegos. secretary: Jan Spicher, reporterg Jackie Miller, parliamentariang Deon Speir, historian, Lin- da Andrews, song leader, and Esther Acosta, pianist. At one of the meetings, Tiny Van Ewijk, DHS's foreign exchange student from Holland, gave a talk on home furnishings and food. As the season came to a close. the FHA prepared for Daddy Date Night, their Heritage dinner, and the installa- tion of officers in May.
