A THE BA D Thr- 1959-60 Wildcat hand vonsistf-d of 65 high school students under the direr-tion of Mr. Bruce lfirlcins who was in his second year as Deming High School hand direvtor. The hand attended all sr-heduled foothall gamesfat home and away-during the foothall seasonfhelping to spur the team on to the Championship. Following foothall season. many of the hand memhers began working toward All-State tryouts. These were held in Las Cruces on Devemher 4 and Deming ranked high twelye were chosen to attend All-State Hand. As the year wore on. haskethall season vame along. Again the hand was credited with participation at home games. Before the he-ginning of the Christmas holidays the hand presented the first concert of thf- year. Later on in the- wintf-r in celehration of the hirthday of Nacio Herh Brown. the hand gan- a 1-onr-ert featuring the songs written hy Mr. Brown, including Teniptation. Singing in the Hain. and The Vivedding of the Painted Dollf' The final artixity of the year was to he ClJIl1IT1EI1Ct'IHf'IllQ for which the me-mhers of the hand. without the seniors. played. A new group varne out of the hand this yr-ar. They called themselves the llixie Saints and llixif-land niusim- was he-ard r-oming front their practice sessions. In, Ueceni- her the group won an all expense paid trip lu Tur,-urnvari where they represented Luna County in a state wide talv-nt 4-ontest. The lroys did not win hut enjoyed the trip lHlINC'!1St'lf.
