The purpose of the National Honor Society is to create an enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote worthy leadership and to encourage the development of character. A member of the Deming chapter of the National Honor Society must be in the upper three grades of high school, have at least a B (85%) average, and be evaluated on the basis of character, leadership, and service by the Council, which is headed by James O.
