Dear D.H.S. Underclassmen Just a little note to tell you about our four years at D.H.S. It was not all play, but quite a bit of work. We started in high school just as green as you were, but look how we turned out! You can do the same too, if you follow in our footsteps. As we stepped on to the prison grounds, we were suddenly faced with a large group of upper-classmen and realized that we were expected to fulfill the tasks which had been fulfilled before us. As Green Freshmen we planted the seed of learning that was to develop into the Fruit of Knowledge. Mrs. Sandifer helped us sink our roots deep into the fertile soil of textbooks. Braving all the hardships and drought with the help of our advisors Mrs. Sandifer and Mr. Hale, we finally gained the title of Silly Sophomores. Our Junior year was one of our best years. As Jolly Juniors,” we ordered our rings. Our Junior play was Antics of Andrew.” Our Junior-Senior Banquet went off like a bang! It was simply wonderful, even though we were, with Mrs. Barnett’s help, still working on it while the guests were eating. Our theme was Call of The Wild. At last now we are nearing the top of the ladder. As Sophisticated Seniors,” Perry Gifford is our President; Warren Massey, Vice-President; Joanna Burns, Secretary; and Carolyn Massey, Treasurer. Our Senior class play is Look Behind You. Our class motto is Forward ever, backward never. We have chosen blue and white as our class colors and the red rose is our class flower. As our Senior year is rapidly passing away, we are eagerly anticipating our coveted diplomas and our Senior trip. As you can see this hasn’t been a bit dull, now has it? So the best of luck to the Underclassmen. We hope you have as much fun, and as much cooperation from the students and faculty, as we have had. Sincerly yours, Wanda Jane Howard Senior Class
