' AW KEd1tor's Note: In Ju s, 1958, the following article, written by Martha Jane Hildreth, appeared in the Tribune Democrat . D Timex 1958 Place: Deming High School Gym Occasion: Reunion of graduating class of 1948. we, the Senior Class of 1948, after a decade of establish- ing ourselves in the field of our choice decided it was time E? reassemble at nthe Academy on the hill' to talk ever old mes. Our senior class president, Viola Barnette, was the first to arrive. She was quite tired as she had walked from the South end of town. She had never gotten a window for the car. Margie Woodward was next to arrive on the scene. Earlier in the evening the had given a concert at Carnegie Hall, so it was necessary for her to some by p ane. Wendell Hall looked very happy as he approached the scene. He had just Hchalk- ed up' another broken heart to his credit. Dorothy Clyde Ashcraft certainly surprised the class with her choice of a career. She now holds the title of championship lady wrestler. She fou d great pleasure in telling us about her last match. We were surprised at the remarkable change in Barbara L1nvllle's personality. She has actually learned to control her temper. Carroll Curtis had spent a tiresome day in front of the camera. Rosslyn Harbor had lost his picture again. we missed Emmltt Hu ble during the evening, but as usual we fou d him ln the Study Hall. He and Betty had gone there to recall familiar scenes of ten years lgoe Professor and Hrs. G. T. Harding, alias Hester Rose Moore, attended the event. They were accompanied by all of the little professors. Mrs. Chester Marcu , the former Bernetta Ogden, Joyfully told us of the huge success of the Marcum bus lines. Janet Kabler, the student the Class thought was most likely to succeed has lived up to ou highest expectations. She now holds a Monopoly on all Mortuary Services in the state. Mary Jo Henson was telling us of her interesting experiences as teacher of Physics at University of Kentucky. As we glanced over the crowd we saw Earl Wesley 'Tubby' Overbey, a business man of high renown, a cross-bred dairy man professional gambler, and a fellow who r1na11y get that Jeb with all work abeiaehea. Denny Slndifer was late in arriving because he had just been made Assistant Manager of Clark's Pool Room. Only two of our classmates arrived together - Jackie Berry and Martha Jane Hildreth. They were on their vacations from teaching at U.C.L.A. The only member of'the class who was not able to attend was Sylvia Wheeler, a Missionary in India. Each of us greatly enjoyed the reunion, indulging in remininscence and comparing experiences which awakened in our hearts many happy memories of those four happy years spent at Deming High School.

W The Freshmen Class of 1945, with Mrs. Christine Sims as home room sponsor, entered Deming High School with high hopes and great expectancy. We were in- dustrious and eager to get the most from our educational opportunities. Like most all other high school classes, we have been beset by great losses in the nu ber of classmates who have quit school, some through channels of matrimony and others because of general discouragements. The Sweetheart Banquet, sponsored by our class, highlighted our Sophomore year. Through both our Sophomore and Junior years Mrs. Sandlfer has been our Sponsor. Now at the end of our third year we are only fourteen in nu ber. Our class roll with pictures above, reading from left to right, is as follows! Mary Lou Hlldreth, Donnie Morford, Mary Jo Barnette, Norma Howard, Betty French, Juanita Myers, Betty Stoker, E. C. Thomas, William Owen Massey, John King, Nolan Craig, Wayne Selby, and Mrs. Sandifer. Donald Linville, President of the class, and Don McBrayer, Vice-President, were absent when the group picture was made.
