Progressive Year For Student Council One of the toughest elected positions for a student to hold at Delton is that of a Student Council representative. It requires responsibility, integrity and imagination from the council members in order to have a successful year. The school was fortunate enough to have several students such as this within the 1968-69 Student Council. These people not only supplied new ideas but the time and energy to get them started. Among their accomplishments were the revision of the Constitution, formation of a student lounge, purchasing of a juke box, sending packages to soldiers in Vietnam, hanging of the Freedom Shrine display in the halls and filling the marquee planter. ur Band How many times have you heard a student or adult spectator at a game say that about the performing band? Well, if you're at Delton you'll hear it frequently. Whether they're step- ping onto the football field, sounding off with the school song, or swinging into Sweet Geor- gia Brown as the basketball team warms up, the Delton Senior Band strikes a proud note in the hearts ofthe Delton people. Being a band that takes continual straight firsts in competi- tion and has more awards than can be named, little else can be said except that they boost the pride and spirit of the school and commun- ity. Hats off to the Delton Senior Band! We're Proud l 99 DIRECTOR DA LE KOOI L to R: Majorettes Carlie Beebe, Peg Handy and Diane Osborne provide halftime entertainment with the band, 2 L

.. Q ' . ,TV Controversy ver Sideburns Resolved The Student Code Committee, set up to study and revise the original Code, met a great deal of conflict on the issue of personal appearance. A large percent of the male population within the school felt that they should be allowed to wear long sideburns, mustaches and beards. The administration, reluctant to allow such a drastic change, compromised with the students request and longer sideburns became permissible.
