Go! Fight! Win! The spirit-boosting bonfire and pep rally raised hopes for the Panther game, Homecoming Strengthens Student Unity And Promotes School Spirit Homecoming was the first activity and major event ofthe 1968-69 school year, It dawned on a bright October day, well suited for the cheerful at- mosphere that surrounded Delton. The activities began with a parade through town, followed by the traditional barbecue, and a pep rally and bonfire that built excitement and spirit for the game. Half- time ended anxious waiting as the juniors were awarded the float trophy and Judy Dewey and Lyle Lester were crowned Homecoming King and Queen, The Delton Panthers played a tough game as they fought hard for yardage against the Mattawan team, but it ended in a O-0 tie. As weary parents headed home, students used their remaining energy to dance to the music of the James Scott Reunion. Homecoming is . . . work, enthusiasm, spirit, hope, laughter, tears, old friends . . . everlasting memories Mary Montague proudly accepts the float trophy for the junior class entry Victory or Bust, This page sponsored by KALAMAZOO CONSERVATORY
