The 5th annual DSU Day at Wendy ' s was held dur- ing Homecoming Week this year, and it rained again of course. Coupons were passed out for meals and the Phi Mu ' s had the most coupons honored, making them the winner of a microwave oven. Wendy Weber and Karl Hoffman took the ham- burger eating titles. It was Karl ' s second year in a row to win. Many students showed their Homecoming Spirit by feasting on burgers and fries from Wendy ' s. = DELTA Vice President Bush was the keynote speaker at the 49th annual meeting of the Delta Council. The Council, a gathering of industrial and agricultural leaders from the 18-county Delta area packed the Walter Sillers Coliseum to hear Bush at their May 31, 1984 meeting. The Vice President expressed the urgent n eed for free international trade, saying that open markets are essential to a stable, peaceful world order. The key to lasting peace and a real arms reduction is a strong self-confident America. Bush claimed the Reagan administration was determined to keep America firm and strong in foreign affairs through simple, down-home common sense. Reagan ' s administration is committed to having a farm bill that will prevent disaster, such as soar- ing prices, production explosions, and market col- lapses. Bush said that the global outlook of Delta farmers reveal their understanding that political and economic stability cannot be achieved in a weak world.
