Sheena Easton On October 26, 1984 Sheena Easton appeared in concert at Walter Sillers Coliseum. She was one of the many highlights of 1 984 Homecoming Week. The concert began at 7:30 and tickets were $7 for students and $8 at the door. Sheena ' s hits included Almost Over You , For Your Eyes Only , Morning Train , and the latest hit from her new album Strut. Marjorie Akers, President of the Student Government Association, told the Miss Delta that since Ms. Easton was appearing in Mem- phis her agent called local schools to arrange concerts. Altogether Sheena Easton cost $27,000 for publicity and stage preparations. All in all the concert was a success.

Snow Snow Snow It makes for beautiful scenery on the way to class and pro- vides frustration release through snow-ball throwing. After three days of Delta rain, the temperatures dropped below 20 degrees, making an icy foundation for the four inches of snow that soon followed. DSU got its share of bad weather this year, but the school stayed open. On-campus residents at- tended class as usual, but occasionally a merciful teacher ex- cused everyone because of the massive lack of commuter classmates. Drive-in students enjoyed a three-day mid-winter vacation while dorm students risked their lives and limbs to pursue their education. Treking through the icy snow wasn ' t as bad as swimming across a flooded quadrangle, but it called for a new set of wilderness survival tactics. Neither Gibson ' s or K-Mart stocked snow skiis, so lots of duck shoes and moth-eaten worn- once-a-year snow boots were pulled out of closets to keep feet warm and dry. Vogue was not as much an issue as were pneumonia and frostbite. Cars were embalmed in frozen parking spots and wind- shields dared sledgehammers to remove the ice from view. White drifts piled up against tires to keep the cars from going anywhere. This was definitely an unusual experience for DSU: short- ened classes, 20-minute trudges to class, and full parking lots on the weekend. Thanks, Jack Frost, for not leaving us off of your cross- country blizzard visit, but enough is enough!
