DEDICATION In 1912 Delta State graduated a young man who was destined to return shortly to our campus and to assume a large responsibility for the planning and execution of our present growth. During the twelve years he has served as financial secretary, he has worked •jvith state officials, as well as the administration. facult . staff, and student body, to make Delta State the fastest growing senior college in Mississippi. It is with pride and gratitude that we. the Senior Class of 1960- 61. dedicate this year ' s BROOM to HUGH C. Within the pages of the 1961 BROOM is revealed the promise of Delta State College ' s future growth. Progress is evident in its in- creased student body and faculty, renovations in the school plant, and the addition of five new buildings to the campus. Delta State recognizes the need to expand its facilities to benefit its students and the BROOM depicts the campus life of Delta State revolving around these improvements. Delta State has steadilv progressed since its formation in 1921 and will continue to progress. The 1961 BROOM is a tribute to that growth.

' What we consider to be the zenith of progress at Delta State College will no doubt appear as ' out of date to those who teach and learn here in 2000 A.D. as the above picture, made when Delta State College was Delta State Teachers College, appears to you in 1960-61. To those who know Delta State College only as the thriving institution it is today, be assured that much has preceded to make this possible, just as much will be required for the preservation and furtherance of Delta State College.
