' What we consider to be the zenith of progress at Delta State College will no doubt appear as ' out of date to those who teach and learn here in 2000 A.D. as the above picture, made when Delta State College was Delta State Teachers College, appears to you in 1960-61. To those who know Delta State College only as the thriving institution it is today, be assured that much has preceded to make this possible, just as much will be required for the preservation and furtherance of Delta State College. The function of Delta State College, founded in 1924 by legislative action for the training of teachers, was broadened by legislative action in 1955. MISS VIRGINIA THOMPSON President ' s Secretary

During the twelve years he has served as financial secretary, he has worked •jvith state officials, as well as the administration. facult . staff, and student body, to make Delta State the fastest growing senior college in Mississippi. This teaching job is well summarized by William G. Salton- stall, Principal of the Phillips Exeter Academy, who believes It ' s the m ost important job in the world.
