Adams and Grubb were big guns in the victory. Delta State scored 19 of its 25 points in the first half and sat back for 27 minutes before scoring its final tally. Then the Greenies came home to meet Northeast Louisiana State and got trounced 20-12. Nathan Zametto was outstanding for Northeast as he accounted personally for almost all of the Indians ' 20 points. Mike Nichols was the outstanding back for Delta and Cotton Robertson did a good job of filling up the holes in the line. Carl Grubb, candidate for Little All American honors, and Mike Nichols, a fine halfback, were the big stars for the Delta eleven. To single out individual stars in the line would be impossible, since the entire forward wall played an outstanding game. The Statesmen then performed before the alumni on Homecoming Day and gave Arkansas A M its first setback, 27-7. Delta scored first with fullback Lacy Chapman going over from the one. Adams later passed to Mike Nichols for a 74 yard scoring play. Carl Grubb added 12 points and was leading ground gainer. W Ken Laudeidale QB Ron Mohundro RH Floyd Eppinette LE .. .( h •. The next game is the type of game all Delta fans like to talk about, a 67-19 defeat of Livingston State Teachers College. Everyone got into the limelight as Coach Chadwick cleaned the bencnes. It seems that every member of the backfield scored at one time or another. Homer Smith LH George Arendale RG Norman Wells QB Marvin Smith LE 116 Bradley Sanders LH Don Holcomb RE Johnny Tabb C Cotton Robertson LG In the seventh and perhaps the coldest game of the season, Delta defeated Arkansas Tech. 34-32. Halfback Mike Nichob scored three touchdowns and set up another. Durwood Strain, Gordon Kent and Cotton Robertson were outstanding in the line. For the final game of the season. Delta invaded Louisiana College on Thanksgiving Day and got thumped 13-0. Although the Statesmen did not play their best game of the season, they ended the season with a fine record of 5-3. All in all it was a goo( season and the thirteen seniors will be sorely missed next year.
