History ln the Fall of 1949, seventeen new students enrolled in first grade. Of those starting that day, only two were destined to complete their high school education, here in 1960, as part of a class, now consisting of eleven. Those children begin- ning were: Donald Appleget, Linda Curry, Jack Gatewood, Rita Green, Judith Henry, Wilma Knox, Lyle Krewson, Janet McKeag, Linda Moore, Wanda Sampson, Carol Sue Sarvis, Karen Kay Tharp, David Stanley, Albert Johnson, Don Haeld, Shirley Benson, and Darlene Dyson. Our teacher was Miss Avis Converse. Going on into second grade, David Appleget, Donald Bird, Ardis Bos, and Clifford Coble ioined us, but we lost Rita Green, Wanda Sampson, Carol Sue Sarvis, Karen Kay Tharp, David Stanley, Albert Johnson, and Don Haeld. Our teacher was Mrs. Waneta McNabb. Mrs. Gladys Williams was our fourth and fifth grade teacher. ln fourth grade we gained Carlyn Raplinger,,Leonard Hamilton, Bobby Lytle, and Karen Kerr. We lost Carl Post, Kay Post, and Judy Post. Continuing on into fifth grade we gained Judy Ellis and lost Don Appleget, Dave Appleget, Wilma Knox, Bob Richmond, Clifford Cobble, Bobby Lytle, and Michael Kuntz. Our teacher in sixth grade was Mr. Ernie McBeth. We lost Judy Ellis and Marilyn Alderson in March. Marilyn Alderson and Bob Richmond joined us again at mid-term during seven- th grade with Mrs. Phyllis Strong as our teacher. During the eighth grade we gained Ronnie Streigle and lost Judy Henry and Leonard Hamilton. Mr. Findley was our teacher. Fourteen green freshmen entered high school in T957 at Delta. They were: Jack Gatewood, Bob Richmond, Ronnie Streigle, Jim Leinen, Ray Amber, Gladys VanPatten, Shirley Benson, Linda Moore, Marilyn Alderson, Barbara Lippard, Marilyn Rose, Dixie Strong, Carlyn Raplinger, and Karen Kerr. At mid-term we lost Gladys VanPatten, Linda Moore and Raymond Amber. Our class sponsor was Mr. Humphrey. We all survived the sophomore year and made it through our iunior year also, without losing or gaining any. Class sponsor when we were sophomores was Mr. Ronald Goldsmith. Mrs. Osa Gideon was our class sponsor when we were iuniors. To begin the last and most important year of our high school education, the seniors were still eleven in number. We hadn 't lost or gained since mid-term when we were freshmen. The eleven completing are: Marilyn Alderson, Shirley Benson, Jack Gatewood, Karen Kerr, Jim Leinen, Barbara Lippard,Carlyn Raplinger, Bob Richmond, Marilyn Rose, Ronnie Streigle, and Dixie Strong.
