Volleyball The Pioneer volleyball squad fin- ished the 1976 season at 12-10 over all and perhaps as one of the best volleyball clubs ever at Delta, Coacn Pat O'Toole, who had worked her squad hard throughout the regu- lar season in preparation for post season play, discovered they were going nowhere. Pormiie a iiilst: ‘tame. imtseveral years there was no MAIAW State tour- ney. But, the women were selected to represent Michigan in the Region als. However, Delta's athletic dir- ector voted down the selection. It was an unusual season for the women who dropped several tough three setters to Central Michigan, Mott, Kellogg, Michigan State, Hen- ry Ford, and Eastern Michigan. Delta came so close to victory only to lose it at the end. Eleven freshmen rounded out the squad along with the only returnee Lynette Aven, a graduate of Saginaw Eisenhower.
