Our Town Performed The place: Grover's Corners, New Hampshire. The time: May 7, 1901. That's where you were December 5'th and 6'th if you caught the Delta Play- ers on stage performing Our Town. The cast and crew gave outstanding per- formances, bringing about great audi- ence involvement. Thorton Wilder said the following about his play: Our Town is not offered as a picture of life in a New Hampshire village; or as a speculation about the conditions of life after death. It is an attempt to find a value above all price for the smallest events in our daily life. The day after Delta's last performance, Thorton Wilder died, at the age of 78. 2. George Gibbs and Emily Webb (Tim Monsion and Pam Davis) fall in love over a soda. 5. Mr. Webb calms Emily's fears about marrying George Gibbs. 6. Emily (P. Davis) returns after death to her mother (Laurie Levine on left) to make her understand life. 7. George (T. Monsion) gains advice from Emily's parents (L. Levine and Dan Weiss) before the wedding. Alice Wonders When we are young it is easy to be- lieve in fairy tales. Eventually we get old enough to believe in them again, said Jim Leffew, director of Alice in Wonder . The Delta Players put on this adaptation of Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass for their first Children's Theat- er of the year. In six days, for eight performances, elementary school children filled the Lecture Theater to capacity. The kids were delighted by such char- acters as a Mock Turtle, a Gryphon, Tweedledum, Dee, a Cheshire Cat, Humpty Dumpty, and a White Rabbit. The kids also loved the special effects of a strobe light, flash powder, and a fluor- escent cat. 1. Alice (Pam Davis) helps the White Knight (Paul Hen- kel) keep his balance. 3. Humpty-Dumpty (Phil Walk- er) gives Alice (P. Davis) some advice. 4. Alice (P. Davis) finds the nonsense of the March Hare (Leslie Warner) and the Mad Hatter (Gordon Levine) too confusing.
