NURSING science and skill The Division of Nursing is an integral part of Delta College. It shares the objectives of the college in developing positive contri¬ butions to the general welfare of society. The division strives to prepare selected men and women to function effectively as mem¬ bers of the health team. The objectives of the division are to assist the student nurse to: develop the basic knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for the care of the patient; develop and use the skills in critical and constructive thinking; develop the effec¬ tive use of communication skills; develop an awareness of com¬ munity problems. The Nursing Division believes that students should actively participate in the Delta College community and contribute to the ongoing activities of the student body. The students follow a rigorous curriculum in order to develop and become skilled, safe practitioners of nursing. Thus, they must be dedicated and com¬ mitted to upgrading the health care of the community. The Delta College Division of Nursing hopes to contribute in a small way in meeting the health care needs of the nation.
