Six years ago Delta College was only a dream in the minds of a few men who looked ahead and saw a need for it. Through their own determination they presented the idea to the public, and formed a tentative plan of operation • The citizens of Bay, Saginaw and Midland counties grouped together to form a solid wall of support, and gradually the final plans evolved. Today the bricks, tiles and stones of Delta are a concrete testimony of the leader¬ ship and determination of the citizens of the three counties. In building Delta College, these people have made not only a monument of achievement for future generations, but an institute which will, in itself, enable each member of these generations to develop his special talents to better serve the interests of his com¬ munity, country and all of mankind.

On October 4, 1959, work began. Today, three years later, this land has become the realization of a six million dollar educational dream. This dream is only nearing fulfillment as students wrestle with new ideas and strive to find the answers that will lead them to their goals. Only in the future will these students, and those who will follow them, help make not only Michigan, but the world a better place to live in, thus fulfilling the dream. 12
