THE HIGHLIGHTS STAFF TRIES TO MEET DEADLINE 574 JJ,1,A,1,f That the Highlights is truly a student activity is shown by the tact that some twenty students have had some part in the publlca tions ot its weekly issues These students do all the work ot gather ing the maternal and of preparing the copy and layout for the printer In this way the statf members put to use the theory and train ing received in journalism class The Highlights is a member ot the Na tional Scholastic Press Association and ot the Quill and Scroll and is published by the journalism class under the supervision ot Mr. Marshall Hamilton. Last year our school was one ot si schools in the country with similar small ens rollments to publish a weekly newspaper. HISTORY CAN BE INTERESTING Sa GLUL Carrying out the theme Where summer spends the winter the 1947 Seahawk is the second yearbook publication rn the history ot Delray Beach l-lrgh School Marshall l'lamrl ton IS the faculty adviser When a course in journalism for Juniors and Seniors was instigated last year the students became interested in the publication of a yearbook. The tirst attempt was pub- lished by the journalism class and financed through the selling ot subscriptions and the selling ot advertising space. It developed into a 90 page annual which was printed in the less expensive offset process, by a mid- western concern. The present Seahawk has added many 44 LK improvements by printing on better paper by using engraved pictures and by presenting the material rn a more lite like manner The publication has been financed by activity tees by the sale ot advertising space and through donations of interested organ: zatrons THE SEAHAWK Gwen Platt ....
