Bears Capture Prize in First Competition Newly directed by Fred Latella, the Delran High School Marching Band is sporting a different image. Previously a group which merely took to the field and played, the Marching Bears now approach band with much enthusiasm because they are involved in performing intricate formations and have an exciting new sound. Practices which consumed many hours last fall paid off. The very' first time the band competed and was judged professionally, on November 29 in Millville, its members captured third place in a field of twelve. Further, the Bears took a first place in the Moorestown Christmas Parade. Latella has been quoted many times saying, l'l don't want just a high school band, l want a superior band! The DHS Marching Band is becoming just that! Ready for another competition. Raphael doing his famous Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy. 1 ual. i if s in Kneeling: S. Rich, S. Trotter, D.
