The 8Of 81 varsity grapplers earned the dual distinction of being the first team to defeat N. Burlington in the 7 year history of the Freedom Division and then went on to become the first team other than Northern to capture the League title with a 7-O record. They also qualified for Group ll Sectionals and were defeated by a top notch Penns Grove outfit. The overall 13-4-0 season climaxed with a strong team performance at the District 27 Tournament, where they placed third. Soph Vince Young, who ended the regular season with a 16-3-0 recorc became a National Scholastic Record holder in his weight class with a 5 sec- ond pin against Burl. Vo. Tech. He was also named athlete of the week by the Phila Inquirer for this accomplishment. Other honors were captured by Mark Bohn, lim Sweezy and Young, by being named to the Freedom Division First Team. Second team honors went to Steve Mclntyre, Dave Lehmann and Ed Hamlet. S McCleary turns opponent over with headlock.
