The Sunshine Society, which is composed of more than two hundred girls, is the largest organization in high I N school. The Society sold cookies before Christmas this year to hr increase the money in the treasury. Sunshine contributes money to the Nurses Scholarship Fund, and to Riley Hospital. Probably the most important contribution the Society makes is a gift to the school each year. The Society sells candy during the noon hours at school, and this year it also sold candy at football and basketball games. The staff, under the sponsorship of Louis Kent, gives each member the opportunity to edit at least one section of the paper at sometime during the year, Theres are never any worries about buyers, since nearly everyone waits anxiously' until the paper comes out. As well as publishing the paper, the students gain constructive knowledge of the operation of the equipment used to run off the papers. Miss Traumer has brought many new and interesting ideas to the staff as she worked with them during the second semester. XVQ won our first two games and then lost one that started a heartbreaking loosing streak that refused to crack as the year pro- gressed. Six games were lost by five or less points. The team had the spirit and skill needed, but not quite the height and depth to run up a winning record. Then we began to learn something that everyone should know-a winning record is not the only way a team proves it is good. Our basketball team has been one of the best in several yearsg un- fortunately, there have been an unusually large num- ber of good teams this year and not everybody can win. Our team did not win as many games as some other teams, but it certainly won the admiration of all for spirit and determination.
