Dunbar is the principal at Delcambre High School, tie is kept very busy doing many things to keep the school in order, tie is always willing to help out students if needed. This year Mr. Dunbar has created a Concerned Students Committee. This is a group of students who speak to underclassmen about the attitude of students and the dropping of grades. Mr. Dunbar hard at work. Mr. Dunbar stands with Mr. Chapman before a football game. Although Mr. Dunbar is no longer a coach, but he is very supportive of athletics. Here he is speaking with referees during half- time of a football game. MRS. SAUniER Mrs. Saunier, the assistant principal, has many jobs like the principal. When he is called away she has to take over. On the side of the many Jobs she has. she also takes pictures for various events. She is no longer the Yearbook Advisor, but without her some pages might remain pictureless. The Year- book Staff wishes to thank her and let her know how gratful we are for her help. MRS. LAVIOLETTE Mrs. Laviolette, the guidance coun- selor. is kept very busy. She is there if students have problems they need to talk about Mrs. Lavio- lette also plays a big role in prepar- ing students for college. She has almost anything students want to know about college. If she doesn 't have it• she's always willing to get it. MRS. DERISE This year is Mrs. Derise's first year at Deicambre High School, and still she fits in as if she's been here for- ever. She always has a smile on her face and never complains about all the work she must do. 6 TEACHERS Instruction ends in the schoolroom, but education ends only with life. Something is learned every time a book is opened. The roots of education are bitter, but the fruit is sweet. Throughout the year, the Student Council has strived to promote school spirit and pride in our students. We began the year with the slogan. Coming alive with Panther Pride. The Student Council sponsored spirit weeks throughout the year. During homecoming festivities, we greeted parents and Judged doors. We also bought gifts for Teacher Appreciation Week. Our quiz bowl team which consisted of Jason Broussard (captain), William Comeaux. Ear- lene Waits, and Roy Sonnier, placed 2nd on the district level. At the beginning of the year, Robby Mitchell and Jeremy Touchet were elected as beaus. The annual Sweetheart Dance was held February 13, on a Friday and Jamie Landry was crowned Sweetheart Queen. At the beginning of the year the 1966-87 FBLA Officers were installed. In Movember. Jason. Jonathan. Lance and Mrs. Grossie attended the Southern Region national Fall Leadership Conference in Little Rock. Ar- kansas. For the Christmas holidays, the Chapter went Christmas caroling around town and had a real great time. Many of the members attended the District Conference in January at Opelousas high School. Wil- liam placed 1st in Mr. FBL and went on to compete at the State Convention. Taking charge and going into the working world, FBLAers helped out at various businesses around town. For a fundraiser, a Hawaiian Dance was held at the DVO which turned out to be a great success. At the State Conven- tion, William was a Mr. FBL State Finalist. Sophomores. Juniors, and Seniors. These classes had to get their scenes put together for Fri- day when Judging for the Homecom- ing displays which were held in the new gym. The high school and elementary students walked in the parade, Tee-Wee football players rode on a wagon, and the Alumni rode in trucks to show their spirit. During homecoming week a wrecked car was put on the school grounds to show that drinking and driving don t mix.
