Bob Rube Dunn Second Base Baseball - 19 9 Eleven victories and two defeats-that was the record compiled by the 1959 varsity baseball squad. Led by the hard-hitting duo of Captain Tom Tappen and veteran Bob Dunn, the team was one of the finest turned out by Delbarton. Coach Harry Stillwell called it The best defensive ball club I've ever coached. The Club was highlighted by a strong infield. George Roff handled the initial sack, Ted Stearns at short and Rube Dunn at second formed a classy keystone combination. Dan Cacchio was stationed at the hot corner. In the outfield was strong-armed Tom Tappen in leftg versatile Frank Soriano pitched and played centerfieldg in right field was steady Ken Cote. The mound corps was led by George Martin, Frank Soriano, john OlGorman, and Tom Zusi. Behind the plate was catcher, Tom Helfenstein. A strong bench was another asset to the team's successful season. Always available for spot duties were Bob Lynyak, Drew Valentine, Leo Geary, Tom Maloney, and bull pen artist Dick Burke. Captain Tom Tappen Left Field 95 4
