IVY LEAGUE COQCHAMPTUNS 5 4 ll 4 ll This year Delbarton fielded another fine team which upheld the Green Wave tradition. The Green Wave captured its ninth straight crown in completing its final year in the North 'jersey Ivy League. Delbarton kept intact its record of never having lost an Ivy League contest. Much of the credit for the Green Wave's success must be given to head coach Mr. VVilliam Regan and to line coach Mike Barry. In completing his twelfth year as head coach at Delbarton, Mr. Regan extended his excellent record to 82 wins, 13 losses, and 4 ties. The 7-6 heartbreaking loss to Blair was the first defeat Delbarton has known since 1955. This year's squad compiled a record of 5 wins, 1 loss, and 1 tie. The only blots on Delbarton's season was the loss to a strong Blair eleven and the tie to Newark. The Green Wave this year was led by Co-Captains Mike Minnig and Dennis Russell. The backfield stars included Iohn O'Gorman at Quarterback, Bob Benjamin at Fullback, and Halfbacks Dennis Russell, Frank Soriano, and Frank McGuire. The forward wall was made up of Ends Tom Maloney and Bob Lynyak, Tackles Mike Minnig and Iohn Donohoe, Guards Leo Geary and Barney Feeley, and Center Frank VValsh. Defense was a big point again this year. The Green VVave gave up just 25 points in seven contests. Tom Reilly and Ken Cote intercepted passes and line- backers Iohn Frisoli and Chris Holme made key tackles. Senior Bob O'Mara took care of the middle guard spot. Congratulations to a fine team, to a line spirit, and to a fine coach. L l

The second half was a standstill until midway through the fourth quarter, when Newark's Barowski took a pass on the Delbarton 40 yard line. Two plays later Curt Cetrulo went 40 yards for the score. Newark's conversion was no good. The Green Wave fought back, but an O'Corman pass was intercepted on the Newark 8 yard line. The clock ran out with the score tied 6-6.
