Friends Fellow Classmates I would like to start with a poem entitled Thinking If you think you are beaten, you are If you think you dare not, you don ' t. If you ' d like to win but you think you can ' t It ' s almost a cinch you won ' t. If you think you ' ll lose, you ' re lost, For out in the world we find Success begins with a fellow ' s will — It ' s all in the state of mind. If you think you ' re outclassed, you are; You ' ve got to think high to rise; You ' ve got to be sure of yourself before You can ever win a prize. Life ' s battles don ' t always go To the stronger or the faster man; But sooner or later the man who wins, Is the one who thinks he can. Don ' t fall prey to the feelings of sadness that saying goodbye brings. Be happy when it comes time for vou vour friends to part, reach deep within you bring back that first hello. Remember the positive things, all of the good times we had, the great achievements of our classmates teams that they were on. Things such as: -an all time leading rushing record -a Rhodes Scholar nominee •a nationally ranked wrestling team -Work Hall parties at A-Day -members of our Equestrian team going to compete nationally -MAC playoffs -numerous awards at the Philadelphia Flower Show -and the installation of a new president Continue the trend of success that we ' ve all grown to know so well. One transition I see beyond the obvious on our graduation day is that we are no longer the oxygen that the College breathes, but now the life blood of the institution. A very good friend of mine, made the comment that next yr. Del Val College will be like visiting the shore in winter; it ' s the same place, but nobody will be there. We will be here, maybe not physically, but we will be here in spirit because this is our Alma Mater. What a long strange trip it ' s been!! Good Luck, Congratulations May God bless you all Eric J. Vanden Berghe HEQE THEY COME!! 235
