we ' ve been through some things together with trunks of memories still to come we found things to do in stormy weather long may you run . . . although these changes have come with your chrome heart shinin ' in the sun long may you run . . . neil young dedication f5i J robert berthold ' we, the class of 1977, would like to dedicate this yearbook to a multl -faceted member of the faculty, dr. robert berthold, an educator, scholar, coach -athlete, and a craftsman. doc teaches at delaware valley college, speaks to various community groups, runs the beekeeping short course, and has made several television appearances in which he talked on honey bee -related topics, in 1976 he was cliairman of the national honey show at the american beekeepers ' national convention, dr. berthold has, on many occasions, written various docu- ments for scientific publications and presented these at scientific conventions in both the usa and Canada. doc has also a fondness for sports --in particular, running, throughout his life, he has won— numerous awards for his running, this devotion to running and outdoors has also led to his be- coming our head coach of cross country, moreover, he continues coaching and practicing through the spring with the track team and during the summer, participating in aau trackmeets. doc has become known in the running world as the skinny weasel . during the summer dr. berthold is a bee inspector for the Pennsylvania department of agriculture, this gives him a chance to get outside and meet people from many walks of life, his contact with working people allows him to make his classroom activity relevant and appli- cable, beyond this, doc looks forward to the physical exercise and outdoor activity after being inside all winter. between his commitments to the college and to his wife and two children, doc ' s spare time is limited, yet he also practices the craft of tinsmithing. this gives him a break to relax and enjoy the aged craft, he also enjoys working in his garden throughout the summer. dr. berthold has served beyond his call of duty in the many activities he is involved in at school, many times throughout our way we have lost sight of our goals, but doc brought back the purpose and reality that set us back on our way again. we thank you for your enthusiasm, confidence, guidance, inspiration, and encouragement through the past four years.
