CORNUCOPIA 1966 Delaware Valley College of Science and Agi :e Doylestown, Penns nia £?Jf ' VL Foreword 1 896-1 966 . . . Seventy years of growth and tradition. These years have seen much progress at Delaware Valley College of Science and Agri- culture, and it is our hope that the 1966 CORNUCOPIA is in pace with the College. In the PAST, the National Farm School grew to be the Na- tional Farm School and Jun- ior College, but progress did not stop there. Next came the National Agriculture College, only to give way to the PRES- ENT Delaware Valley College of Science and Agriculture. Tomorrow ' s sign may read Delaware Valley College, with many new majors added to the curriculum. The FUTURE-We think that the class of ' 66 will look back and proudly say, I went to what is now Delaware Valley University. In the following pages, we have recorded our past, the four years we shared in the college history. The present, our graduation, and the fu- ture, in which we see many more classes to follow us, certainly larger and perhaps smarter. As to the college, po- tential unlimited! I know you have enjoyed these four years and hope that we have been able to instill in you the same spirit of loyalty to the College which is in the hearts of those who have guided you toward the day of your commencement. You are go ing forth into a troubled world. The things which you have learned here, especial- ly in the area of good citizenship and proper attitudes toward your fellowmen will, I am sure, contribute in a great measure toward a useful and productive life. I wish for you all great happiness and a life of peace and dignity. Sincerely, Dedication We are proud to dedicate the 1966 CORNUCOPIA to Assistant Dean of Stu- dents and Director of Student Activities, Joseph E. Fulcoly Jr. In his role as As- sistant Dean of Students, Mr. Fulcoly is a man of many faces. To the wrong doers he is a stern disciplinarian, to those who just drop in with a minor personal prob- lem he is a helpful and considerate friend. His duties are many and varied. In ad- dition to the regular functions that go into running his office, Mr. Fulcoly is in charge of the campus book store; he is the Administrative Advisor to the Stu- dent Government; he is Business Advisor to the Student Government Store; and last, but not least as far as the students are concerned, he is the Spare Time Dormi- tory Room Inspector. In short, it is our pleasure to pay tribute to a man that has long deserved it. THE NMV FARM SC PAST •x V s Student Life Student life is more than just students portrayed on campus, indeed, much more. True, there are the normal campus activ- ities—movies, mixers, dances, customs, class and club meetings, telephone calls, intramurals, coffee breaks and bull sessions, but these things in themselves do not round out a student. There are the many town activities; parties, Ed ' s diner, the Farm House, Kelley ' s, girl judging, dating, movies, and a hundred other things that an Aggie doesn ' t even stop to think about. To get more to the point, a typical Friday may illustrate. If possi- ble, students usually take advantage of a free period in the morning to go to Ed ' s for a coffee break. It may then be nec- essary to do some laundry after class at 4:00 P.M. There may be a mixer at 8:30 P.M. After the mixer there may be a rally to the Farm House or the N.B.I. After this a caravan to Ed ' s before hitting the rack. These everyday extracurricular activ- ities are helpful and necessary to all well-adjusted students. Of course, studies are of utmost importance for without them, there would be no reason to call ourselves Aggies bec ause there would be no Delaware Valley College. A-Day A-Day at Delaware Valley College is that time of year when the school opens its doors to the public, and the entire student body turns out to make it a success. There are exhibits and contests from all the major and minor clubs on campus. This year, 20,000 people came to see the many and varied educational dis- plays. The Ornamental Horticulture club built actual landscapes, had a flower show, and sold annuals and perennials. Animal Husbandry and Dairy Husbandry held a judging contest and competed for top honors in showmanship. Horticulture, Agronomy, Food Industry, Poultry, and Soil Conservation all had large and educational exhibits. There was also a log sawing contest, a milking contest, concerts by band and glee clubs and the Annual A-Day Queen was crowned to reign over a dance in the evening. A-Day is one of those traditions that cannot die. The students and alumni, their friends and families would never permit it. 14 it 16 The last of the BIG-ONES . Three of these men won ' t be with you when you graduate. This was the welcoming speech from Dean Meyer at orientation, our first day on campus four years ago. This was to let us know that our four years here weren ' t going to be any picnic. Many of the original class are gone, but there ' s still a class 120 strong today to walk across the platform to receive those coveted diplomas. The final day is here. The Cornucopia advisor, Dr. Brown, gave us ideas for everything from advertising to layout as well as a great amount of freedom to do as we wished. His help and friendship will always be appreciated. The Administration helped us in every way they were asked. We extend special thanks to the many people who were willing to take time from their regular duties to give us an assist. Finally, we would like to thank those students whose help was of- fered in getting those last minute pictures and reaching that last minute deadline.
