PROM The doors of the Ivy Stone Inn opened to a lane of poplar trees and old-fashioned street lanterns which led up to the ivy-covered trellises above the royal throne. Sophistication was the keynote of the Colonial Cotillion -in the ballgowns, in the music of Ricky Roland's orchestra, in the serving of dinners. in the receiving line, in the grand march, and in the crowning of the queen. The formal air which prevailed lent itself readily to the regal splendor of rustling gowns and fragrant flowers. Each couple appeared to have just stepped from the elegance of the society pages into the ball- room of a colonial mansion. And, perhaps, in their thoughts, they had, for their faces glowed with the ecstasy of youth discovering a new phase of their social maturity. The parchment dance program and tiny gold charm will recall the evening for many years to come. The success of the Colonial Cotillion, however. can never be duplicated, for it was the success of two firsts-the first senior class at their first senior prom. Even if succeeding proms of succeeding classes are more elaborate, they will lack that extra some- thing special that's part of being first. Evelyn Kiesel smiles royally from her royal throne. Crowned at the culmination of a grand march, Evie made a beautiful queen for a beautiful prom. Over 300 guests enjoyed circling the dance floor in time with the orchestra.
