Day by Day Ahh, but it was good to be back (you can stop twisting my arm now) and to say hello to Miss John. Mrs. Henry, and Mr. Zimmerman. We had our first game with Milton on September 18; score. 12 -2. Our favor — natch! Then on September 26 — Harvard 18, D. H. S. 12. Well, we can’t always win. (It says here.) I noticed there was a new taxi service in town. Judging by the number of customers. Alice Pounder and Joann Jacobson must have made millions! October 3 was another lucky night — we beat Marengo. 19-0. So-o-o-o sorry! Tribune, you forget to mention the Red Devils. Can you talk Chinese? No? Well, see Mr. M. Rosholt for instructions. Our luck was still holding, in the last few minutes of play we made two touchdowns: D. H. S. 20 — Elkhom -18. October 10 was the lucky date. Everybody wore raincoats those days — squirt guns, you know. On October 16 we had the snakedance (just to think of it makes my arm hurt) and bonfire. Burned Tribune Tower, remember? Next day we had the homecoming parade. (Nice going. Dramat). That night Shirley Josephson was crowned Queen. A big boo to Whitewater for winning, 34 to 19. (What was the matter boys, paying too much attention to that court?) The dance was on the eighteenth. Twirp season was hard on the girls' budgets. I wonder why the boys had such enormous appetites those days! The Marimba player and family were enjoyed on October 24. (Cute, wasn’t he — the little boy. that is!) Burlington did it to us again, 34 • 0. Happy (?) Halloween. The harpist, Mr. Williams, from the Minneapolis Philharmonic didn't exactly appreciate us (was the feeling mutual?). That's more like it, boys: Comets, 13 — L. G.. 7. Reprinted from HIC. HAEC. HOC: One Saturday nite For Halloween. We had a party We thought would be fun. For the best couple We were giving a prize. But none came in couples — What a surprise!! We had an idea: We would rent a big hall For all of the people That would come to our ball The party was going To last very late. But it ended at ten. Oh my! What a fate!!! That reminds me of the Sub-Deb party! 15
