The Junior High Dramatic Club, under the direction of Mr. Gee and Miss Henricksson, was organized at the beginning of the second semester. The four main purposes of our club are to learn good general speech habits through the use of creative dramatics, to familiarize students with the importance of the body and the voice not only in dramatics but in everyday speech, to familiarize students of junior high school age with the various phases of speech in the school program, and finally, to present a one act play as the moin project of the semester. Try-outs for the club consisted of three short readings, one prepared and two unprepared. From approximately fifty students, thirty-five were chosen as members. Barbara Smith was elected chairman, and Pat Scheurell was appointed to take charge of the roll card. At the first few meetings, members of the Senior High Dramatic Club gave short talks on posture and uses of the hands, body, and voice. With these points in mind, small groups presented pantomimes to the rest of the group. Our main project of the year, the one act play, will be presented in April.
