The Comet B Teom was made up of five returning lettermen and new boys. This aggregation consisted of speed, good ball handling, and very good shooting. Although no league standing was kept, the Junior Comets, defeated only once, won the Southern State Championship. Their season's record was 12 won, 4 lost. Victories were achieved by the very sharp shooting of Captain Eddie Mueller. Jim Davis was noted for his ability for getting rebounds and helping out in scoring. Becoming over-anxious, he was lost by the fault route before the end of most every game, lieurence's great speed and Hopkin’s fight for the ball succeeded in many victories. Dick Luther's height helped whenever needed. The regulars were backed up by good capable reserves—Zimmerman, Honeyager, and Flohive. The B squad letter men were Captain Edgar Mueller, Don Hopkins, Dick Zimmerman, Francis Flohive, Dick Honeyager, Dick Luther, Jim Davis, and Gordon Lieurence. No doubt some of these boys will be seen in future lineups in years to come. 23

Prospects of the 1945-46 season were questionable because it was impossible to determine just what the outlook was going to be. The nucleus of the squad was made up chiefly of the previous season’s reserves. As the season progressed, the boys showed much improvement and our opponents knew they were in for a busy evening whenever they met the Comets. While we had plenty of speed and good ball handling, the outstanding disadvantage was the lack of height. Captain Madison’s offensive play and scoring led us to many victories. Murphy’s and Hauffe’s defensive work helped the Comets set a satisfactory record. The floor play of forwards August and McClellan also featured. The Comets reserves gave a good account of themselves whenever called upon. Letter winners were G. Madison, G. Murphy, D. August, H. Hauffe, L. Rosencrans, R. Barns, and D. Doherty. Prospects for next season appear to be very bright. With the graduation of two regulars and one reserve, our team should be a title contender in the newly organized league. 22

Being members of the Southern Wisconsin Junior High League, our record wasn’t too impressive. Enrollment of Beloit and Jonesville Junior Highs gave them an advantage. The purpose of this league is the development of future Delovan High School material for future years. Coach Gallo's boys showed much improvement as the season progressed and there isn’t any doubt thot a number of these boys will be seen on future Comet teams. High lights of the season were two victories over our arch-rival Elkhorn. 24
