Dear Joe, It's raining today and is perfect for writing letters. I know lots of good news so here goes. Stop me if you've heard it. We had a swell program a little while ago, Pearl Harbor Day. I think.—Jack Rank pul an Macbeth ... all by himself . . . “Out, out, damned spot! . . . Oh, what he said—only he was a she. On the 8fh of December we scared Burlington (basketball) but not enough. The band and vocal departments put on a concert at the State School on the 12th. Bells, bells, bells, bells . . . Hear the sledges with the bells.''—second verse, same as first. December 13—We met our rival—Elkhorn, of course—there . . . Man, what a gome! They can’t do that with only six points extra. Joe, to celebrate Christmas vacation, we had a dance (real orchestra, too). Everyone wished you and all the other G.I.'s from Delavan High could have been there It was keen! Then we weren't fenced in again until January the 8th. January 13—Fight team! fight! for Delavan! We fought and won over the State School 53-42. A lull from out of the storm . . . Otto (Please pass the buttah, mothah!) Schacht singing. January 18—One glass of liquid air coming up! What will science think up next? Our team up against Burlington—by six points they did it again. Some of the best from the band went to Whitewater on the 31st where Dr. Simons presented a city concert broadcast (with the kids in it) over the radio—strictly on the beam. February 8—Hey, anybody seen a widdle white wabbit? Bobo, performed some bafflers. On the next day everybody was looking for the birdie. Mr. Cafchpole took annual pictures. On the 10th the Community Carnival wos held and the Dramatic Club presented “Oh Johnny. Everyone was downhearted around the 13th. Have we got a gremlin or something? We lost out on the Regional Tournament by one point and that to Milton, too. Overtime game. Even though the fellas must have been tired they walloped Walworth the next night. The hardest game to lose is by one point ... so we found out with Whitewater. We had a school tournament this week and the sophomore boys sure showed the school. The G.A.A. played off for class champions and the juniors won! Three cheers!!! And that's the end of the basketball season, Joe, and the end of this letter. Goodbye for now, Susie 21
