Affectionately named Mr Bones, he carries with him an interesting legend dating back 80 years, He lived a life of danger as a horse thief in Hebron, Illi- nois, finally being shot to death. When nc one claimed his body, the undertaker made him into a skeleton. Mr. Bones ther traveled to a local lodge where he residec for 60 years, becoming a part of the club's initiation procedure. The lodge then dis- covered that by law the skeleton either had to buried, cremated, or donated to an edu- cational institution. Thus he was laid tc rest in a cozy cabinet in room 136. Mr. Landi sponsored many environmental action programs throughout the year con- cerning highway clean-up, the SST, and highway development. Seminars and lecl tures proved to stimulate many active stu dents to help save our environment. l u c. 4 q 3 U 2 isis-X Theodore Clifton Ruth Kelsey 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 15 16 17 18 19 gg 22 23 24 25 ?6 27 W 29 A30 31 X R -. ,gk 1 ' Bruce Kelly Richard Pierson i Department Head Mr. Clifton helps Steve Carlson with a Geometry problem. work + logical thinking : math From general math to pre-calculus, students were taught the fundamen- tals of 2 + 2 : 4. But whatever to- morrow brings to each senior, no one can deny that this was his year, whether he found identity in the boys-pep clubg participating in the inner-class swim meet twinning for the fourth consecutive yearj, separat- ing the men from the boys when pit- ting them against women in large group square dancing, or in the fre- quent birthday parties celebrated by the senior women with cakes in the south commons. Homecoming proved that seniors gunny sack faster and throw water balloons better. Next, seniors sweated through PSAT's, ACT's, and Iowa achieve- ments, to complete their eight semes- ters at D-DHS. Looking eagerly forward and then fondly backward,,some became a trite misty when realizing our days in high school won't be long or making the last lone walk toward a diploma, this year belonged and still belongs to the class of nineteen- hundred and seventy-one. seniors - 3 6 07 well, 1 m a seeker and a knower . Also a clothing and food drive were held which proved to be helpful to those in need. The new dress code, allowing girls to wear slacks, was one of the many issues voted on in council this year.
