Last year we held it on Mars, but Tom Delaney, Sheriff of Mars, said that Jon Goff, Dick Arenz, Don Hallett, and Randy Schmuck, who all belong to a spacemobile club, were rodding their spacemobiles; and Mars won’t let us hold our reunions there anymore. Jim Morse, the head of the club, said that he can’t understand it! Jerry Borucki, Chief Rocket Launcher for the U. S., said that the moon has a better surface for our type of reunion, anyway. Oh, Minnie, just everyone was there! Jim Merrill, who says ponies are still wonderful and has $5,000,000 to prove it, was there. Barbara Beresh brought her own rocket. It’s a baby blue convertible, and her husband gave it to her. I can't remember his name, but he’s quite well off. With Barb was Donna Scully, who runs a beauty shop exclusively for people with black hair. Diana Reeb, Sue Cohard, Eleanor Nezki, and Gloria Lindloff were with them. Diana is now a Senator in Wisconsin; Sue Cohard, who was Prom Queen our Junior year, works for a big executive in Washington, D. C.; she does nothing but sits on his lap and smile! Eleanor liked playing in the band so much that she now conducts the Philharmonic Orchestra. Gloria is an author now and recently completed a book entitled, How to Catch a Man. Hank Peters was there and he’s now an English teacher at our old Alma Mater. It seems that he wanted to carry on the family tradition. Donna Figahs came in her “Green Beetle” and brought some more of the kids. Among them were Marilyn Hetzel and Happy Bell. Marilyn has left the library and has joined the WAC’s. Happy has taken over the managing of the Chicago Cubs. Donna Johnson took time off from teaching in her school of “Personality and Charm” to come. Margie Hollister, Gale Graves, Anne Sturtevant, Pat O’Connor, Carolyn Mc-Quality, and Barb Meyer came together. They run a snack shop that features Home Cooking. Nellie Love isn’t one of the partners, because she helps her husband in his gas station. Leora Beelman, who runs her own snack shop, the former Dinty Moore’s, doesn’t know how to meet this problem of competition with the other snack shop. I ran into Lois and John Behrens. You know, they're the sensational sister-brother wrestling team. Between matches Lois tells jokes. 26 Senior Class Prophecy Fred Wileman, superintendent of schools here on Earth, came along with Dave Swender, the president of our graduation class and now the U. S. Good-Will Ambassador to Russia. Tom Boviall attended the reunion and told me about his five new gas stations. The former Carole Austin was with him, and she now lives in Darien and works for Tom as his assistant. Nancy Camacho was also able to come. Nancy was the foreign exchange student our Senior Year, and she is now an important figure in Bolivia. Barbara Lange, Wisconsin’s best woman orator, asked Nancy many questions. Minnie, I saw the cutest dress being worn by Judy Palmatier; she runs her own style shop which is called J. P.’s. Curtis Rubeck drove to the reunion and he told Judy and me that he actually has a driver’s license. How about that? Bev Woodard is the first woman shortstop for the Milwaukee Braves. It seems that she’s sure short enough. Arch Woodard (no relation) was telling us all jokes and some others rather slyly to Duane Snodie, the famed World’s Champion Wrestler. Jerry Grant was there. Word is that Jerry is beating Bob Hope in popularity out in Hollywood. Jerry is thinking of writing a book entitled, “How to Fast Talk Your Way Out of Anything.” I saw and talked to the first two girls from our class to be married. They were Barbara Youmans and Joan Schramiski. Joan and her husband live in Darien and Barbara said that she just loves the Air Force! Wallie Reimer and John Sundberg came and treated us to malts from their Drive-in at the Delavan Lake Inlet. The new manager of the Grocery Basket came, and guess who it is? Laurie Peterson. I hear she might name it “Peetie’s Fruit Bucket”. Donna Keating was at the reunion. Donna won an award for being the quietest and most attentive person in the States. That’s a switch! We even had a college professor attend. It was Erlan Bliss. Andy Gibson came with him. Andy is the manager of an electrical plant in New York City. A little later, Waneeta VanDe Bogart showed us a few of the things that she knows concerning her job as one of Patricia Stevens’ most highly paid models. Connie Shimkus said that she and Waneeta often ride Connie’s horses when Waneeta isn’t modeling. Connie raises many prize horses. Paul Kempken owns the largest farm in the U. S. and he brought his organ instructor, Karen August, along. One of the great debaters of our time attended. That, of course, is Bruce Lee. Another famous debater, Jerry Westerberg, and Bruce had quite a debate over the sad shape of our planetary system. John Sorg, the raiser of champion hogs, listened to them very intently. 27 Senior Class Prophecy Cynthia Gregg apologized for her husband not being able to attend. It seems that someone had to stay in Delavan and take care of her home economics classes. There was the most beautiful 1979 Ford Thunderbird at the reunion, and it belonged to’ Chuck Lind. It seems that he’s a big wheel in Detroit. We had so much fun watching Steve Muller’s track team in action. Members of it are Warren Lipps, Lloyd Johnsen, Dick Malsch, and Bob Gardner. They all looked so cute in their white shorts and those darling little shoes with the funny points on the bottom. O Judy Smith, the discoverer of Smith’s Nerve Tonic, told me that Geraldine McCord is really banging up a storm with her Boogie Woogie Combo in Chicago. She plays piano, John Blake on saxophone, Bill Klaske on drums and Phyllis Sheahan on clarinet. Speaking of combos and music, Lloyd Smith is working regularly with Bud Wilber and his orchestra. They still play for the teen dances at Lake Lawn. Remember all the fun we had at the dances? Virginia Varoni was there, too. She was afraid that she wouldn’t be able to leave the art school at which she is an instructor. One of her pupils is Bill Larson, who painted the popular portrait, “I was A Teenage Sputnik.” Jerry Skelton is the head of the milk break program at D. D. H. S. It seems that he was so good at it while in high school that they kept him on. Jerry Conness runs a gymnasium in Chicago named “Brains and Brawn”. I hear tell that Jerry has mere female customers than male. Sounds like fun! Ed Siert was at our reunion. He likes being an editor so well that he is now editor of a big newspaper in Milwaukee. Members of the staff include Phyllis Ames, sports; Dorothy Beier, Fashions the Unfashionable; Barbara Clowes, Lovelorn Column; Terry Cummings, articles on “Understanding Mother”; Cathy Peters, Etiquette; Ken Wagner, Advertising; and Dave Willard, Roving Reporter. Virginia Doerr writes articles on small town life, especially on a certain section of the country between Clinton and Darien. I’ll try to remember who else was there. Now, let me see! Oh, yes, Doris Hal-sted is head of the secretaries at Sta-Rite. Phil Kramer is assistant stock boy to the assistant stock boy to the chief stock boy at Sentry. I decided to have some refreshments supplied by Marie Stardy and her two partners, Terry Roe and Ed Gleiter. The name of their catering service is, “Roe in, Stardy Eating and Gleiter Out.” Some title, isn’t it? While I was eating, Julian Bates, Daryll Van Heiss and Dale Volberding walked by. Julian demonstrates formal wear for Gingess Brothers and Daryll and Dale are salesmen for a toy company specializing in do-it-yourself planetary kits. They all were discussing Jim Kenney winning the Presidency next year — they hope! Leon Quast came to the picnic and was observed talking to Joe Proctor. Leon is a millionaire at the present and might help Joe finance his Trading Post at the Delavan Lake Inlet. 28 Senior Class Prophecy Judy Musser joined me while I was eating, I took a short walk and ran into Andrea Honse and Nick Davis. Andy writes jokes for a national magazine, and she was trying some new jokes on Nicky. Nicky, it turned out, writes jokes for her competitive magazine and had already heard her jokes. They had quite a discussion. I decided to stop walking and rest for awhile, so I sat down near Carol Gallagher. She is Wisconsin's first lady governor. Linda Kindlesparker came running along and tripped over Judy Heller, who was sitting with Carol. Linda is president of the International G. A. A., and Judy is married to a big Cadillac dealer in Darien. Shortly after this, I saw Ron Scholl. I was surprised to see him because I've been told that he had a matinee at his theater that afternoon, and he wouldn't be able to make it. Judy Evans decided to see if she could go without talking for fifteen minutes. Skip Benson said that he’d keep time, but he didn’t have to for long because she only stopped articulating for three minutes. Judy test drives Chevrolets for G.M. and Skip is an actor under the stage name of “5-Fingers Bennie”. We were entertained some more by N orm Teubert. Norm taught us all the Space Rhumba. He is very expert as well he should be, because he now runs “Sonny's Dance Hall Pool Parlor.” Bill Vance, it seems, is a professional cue stick artist and makes good money at Sonny’s. Harold Los, Larry Morse, and John Leitzke were anxious to play with Bill and see if he’s as good as he’s rated to be. It seems they’re also pretty wicked at pool and have formed a club called the “Cue Sticks.” Love, Esmeralda P. S. Four of our former classmates were unable to attend. They were Frank Kooistra, Mary and Richard Egenes, and Deanna DeLong. Frank works on a big ocean-liner as cabin boy; Mary and Richard have opened an indoor swimming pool. Mary is lifeguard and Richard is the manager. Deanna is a physical education teacher, having taken over Mrs. B’s job. This was a big year for Coach Zimmer-mann as he moiaed a championship team from returning lettermen and was named Coach of the Year. With a strong bnckfield and a powerful line which provided a crushing offense, and an invincible defense which stopped opponents within the five-yard line more than once, the Comets finished the season with an unblemished record nine wins and no defeats or ties. This was the best record in the state, as no other team compiled more than eight wins with no defeats. Steve Muller. Jim Merrill. John Sorg. Larry Spitz. Warren Lipps. Bill Kilkenny, and Dick Olson were the iron men up front, while Norm Teubert. Vince Catalano. Jerry Grant, and Fred Escher carried the back-field load. The team had a great year with Kent Brahe, Bill Moyle, Bill Wagner, Paul Francis, and George Woodard doing a magnificent job of leading the team to a fine season. The strong defensive line with Don Beresh, Steve Mcstan, Wayne Brown, Irv Blier, Chuck Anderson, and Phil Lindloff gave the opponents a rough time. A number of Freshmen have seen action this year and are expected to return next season to provide a promising group of hard blockers and tacklers. 87 VARSITY BASKETBALL Top Row: Ted Wenzel, Dick Olson, Jon Goff. Championship teams are wonderful. But the world has a way of granting rewards to the also-rans who never stop fighting. These fine words of the Delavan ENTERPRISE best express the feeling of out-school toward this year’s Varsity Squad. Among the many excellent performances of the year. Jon Goff (chosen to the All-Conference second team was elected honorary captain und most valuable player by his teammates for his outstanding rebounding and scoring throughout the season. Jerry Conness also provided a big boost to the team through his fine scoring and play-making; he finished only one point behind Jon doff Bill Klaske. joining half way through the season, helped to spark the five victories which were won in the latter half. Norm Teubert proved to be valuable all year with his steady play. Fred Escher did a fine job throughout, but particularly in the last few games, where his scoring and rebounding made a big contribution. 88 BASKETBALL Season's Record DELAVAN-DAR1EN 53 STATE SCHOOL 64 DELAVAN-DAR1 EN 62 WILMOT 51 DELAVAN-DAR 1 EN 59 EAST TROY 66 DELAVAN-DAR 1 EN 45 ELKHORN 65 DELAVAN-DAR 1 EN 43 BADGER HIGH 82 DELAVAN-DAR 1 EN 46 MILTON UNION 58 DELAVAN-DAR 1 EN 36 M'JKWONAGO 52 DELAVAN-DAR 1 EN 49 WHITEWATER 51 DELAVAN-DAR 1 EN 52 BURLINGTON 40 DELAVAN-DAR 1 EN 62 WILMOT 43 DELAVAN-DAR 1 EN 52 EAST TROY 71 DELAVAN-DAR 1 EN 64 ELKHORN 75 DELAVAN-DAR 1 EN 46 BADGER HIGH 63 DELAVAN-DAR 1 EN 58 MUKWONAGO 52 DE LAV AN-DARIEN 64 WHITEWATER 48 DELAVAN-DAR 1 EN 58 BURLINGTON 52 DELAVAN-DAR 1 EN 58 MILTON UNION 63 REGIONAL TOURNAMENT DELAVAN-DAR 1 EN 59 BELOIT 74 DEL A VAN-DA R1 EN 50 MILTON UNION 55 89 COMETS IN ACTION JUMP BALL 90 BATTLE UNOER THE BOARDS SINK IT, JON! The scoring burden rested mainly on the shoulders of Bob Greene. Jim O'Donnell. Mike Mayes, and Bill Wagner.
