JUNIOR PROM The Junior Prom was held Friday April 29, 1955 in the High School Gymnasium. In a setting of tropical palms and colored sunset, about forty couples danced to the music of Bud Wilbur's Orchestra. Many hours of labor were spent to transform the gym into a Tropical Paradise . Streamers of hanging moss in two shades of green were suspended from three sides of the gym to a central point in front of the stage then looped back to the rear of the stage. Murals showing tropical scenes, and representing a large part of the time spent in decorating, covered the walls. Potted palms completed the tropical setting. About 10:30 P.M. the cornation ceremony took place. Prom King Dick McCarthey crowned Janet Zwieg his queen and led the Grand March which followed. The court of honor consisted of Mary Ellen Merrill and Allen Austin, Janet Huisheere and Jerry Sheahan, Barbara Thiele and Don Conley, and Elaine Schryvers and David Peterson. Throughout the evening punch was served by Rosalie Redenius, Mary Geist and Donna Putman. The chaperones for the evening were Mr. and Mrs. Albert Zwieg, Mrs. Molly McCarthey and Mr. Hubert McCarthey. 17
